Background
Despite many years of government's effort to meet WHO's norm for supply of drinking water to the people, little have been achieved. Only a meager fraction of population is able to reap the benefit. Our attempt is to utilize abundantly available sun at Bhujikot for pumping of water from the source up to the village. It will be developed as a model project so that people from elsewhere can learn from this project and make similar effort in their villages. The village is deprived of adequate capacity water supply system. People of the village (generally women and children of the family) have to walk down for several hours to collect few liters of water to fulfill their daily needs. The reason is that the village is situated on relatively higher elevation, whereas water sources are far down. Because of this, gravity water supply system, the easiest method of water distribution is not possible to the village.Brief Description of Site
Expand
Bhujikot is a village with a population of around 335 in 67 households with majority of ethnic minority and disadvantaged groups. This village is spread in two VDCs, Khairenitar and Dulegauda of Tanahu District. Located at the peak of hill with a historical royal palace, it is a beautiful place having a promising potential for tourism. There is plenty of abandoned fertile land due to lack of water. We looked for many alternatives to supply water in this village. But since the village is located on the hill peak, the only alternative to power water supply system is solar energy. Because there is not yet national grid electricity supplies.
