Projects

Since the establishment GRID Nepal is conducting various types of technical supports as well as social supports programs in the rural areas of Nepal with its own resources. The programs are based on the health, sanitation, environment protection, social awareness, renewable energy, local ropeway technologies, river crossing technologies, innovation of traditional/indigenous technology, alternative/appropriate/cheaper/environment friendly technologies, user group formations and conduction of surveys regarding to these cases, in demand of communities. Followings are some activities conducted by GRID Nepal.

Tuin (Ghirling) River Crossing Technology

  • Survey, Design and cost estimation of  Tuin (Ghirling) with sag controlled cable as a demonstration site at Tanahun, Gorkha, Achham and Kalikot District (6 No) supported by Practical Action Nepal.
  • In partnership with Practical Action Nepal, Construction Supervision and Installation of Modified Tuin (Ghirling) with sag controlled cable as a demonstration site at Trishuli River connecting wards No. 9 of Pangrichowk VDC of Gorkha at right bank and Darechowk VDC -8, of Chitwan District in left bank.
  • In partnership with Practical Action Nepal, Construction Supervision and Installation of Modified Tuin (Ghirling) with sag controlled cable as a demonstration site at Trishuli River connecting wards No. 9 of Pangrichowk VDC of Gorkha at right bank and Darechowk VDC -8, of Chitwan District in left bank.
  • In partnership with SAPPROS Nepal under the support of Poverty Alleviation Fund for Ekata Samaj community organization, Carry out survey, design and cost estimation of Kukachuli Tuin (Ghirling) (35m span) at Dahabagar VDC, Ward No 1, Daud, Bajhang District over Kalanga River.
  • Survey, Design, Cost Estimation, Supervision and Installation of Dhundure-Malebagar Sag Controlled Tuin having 160 m Span awarded by Ministry of Education at Dulegaunda-Dhorphirdi Tanahun across Seti River.

Mechanized Bridge (Machine Ghirling)

  • With the technical assistance of Integrated Technology Development, Nepal (ITD Nepal) a mechanized bridge is developed. After successful testing up to 1500M span, now it is under construction over Seti river connecting Dulegaunda-2, Kotre, Tanahun and Bharat Pokhari-1, Punditar, Kaski and span more than 520M.This type of bridge can be applicable for typical location of Nepali contest in the sense of topography, cost, span and technology.
  • With the technical assistance of ITD Nepal, carry out survey, design, cost estimation and socio-economic analysis works of Mechanized Bridge over Seti River connecting Dulegaunda-2, Kotre, Tanahun and Bharat Pokhari-1, Punditar, Kaski.
  • With the technical assistance of ITD Nepal Standardization of Mechanized Bridge for different spans ranging from 400 to 1500m.
    • Carry out survey, design, cost estimation and socio-economic analysis works of Dhansari-Belsot Mechanized Bridge (River Crossing Cable Car) having 620m span at Dhansari-Belsot, Tandi VDC, Sindhuli District over Kamala River.
    • In association with ITD Nepal and GREAT Nepal, Carry out survey, design, cost estimation and socio-economic analysis works of Yakchanaghat Mechanized Bridge (680m span) at Khuwaphok VDC, Yakchanaghat, Dhankuta District over Tamor River.
  • Now there is a high demand from local group and people for this bridge from various place of Nepal and some surveys are also completed by ITD Nepal and GREAT Nepal.

Gravity Ropeway

  • Base line survey, Detailed Survey, Design, cost estimation, economic Analysis of Gravity Ropeway for the transportation of goods in Tanahun, Gorkha, Kalikot and Achham District supported by Practical Action Nepal.
  • Detailed Survey, Design and Cost Estimate of Gravity Ropeway at Jukot, Bajura District for Human Resource Center, Bajura in partnership with Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF).
  • Detailed Survey, Design and Cost Estimate of Gravity Ropeway at Khaptad, Achham District for Nepal Updit Uthan Samaj (NUDS) in partnership with Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF).
  • In association with ITD Nepal and GREAT Nepal, Carry out survey, design, cost estimation, economic analysis works, construction supervision and Installation of Majhim Tar Gravity Ropeway (480m span) at Majhimtar VDC, Dhading District to carry limestone for raw material of cement invest by Shaktiman Cement.
  • In partnership with SAPPROS Nepal under the support of Poverty Alleviation Fund for Krishi Utthan community organization, Carry out survey, design and cost estimation of Bagada Gravity Ropeway (Length:1400m, Elevation Diff: 650m) at Dangaji VDC-8, Bagada, Bajhang District for the transportation of Apple, Wallnut, Potato etc.
  • In partnership with Focus Nepal under the support of Poverty Alleviation Fund for papal danda community organization, Carry out survey, design and cost estimation of Pipal Danda Gravity Ropeway (Length: 1800m, Elevation Diff: 556m) at Jogimara VDC-6,7,8, Pipal Danda, Dhading District for the transportation of Cash crops and Vegetable  etc.
  • In partnership with Focus Nepal under the support of Poverty Alleviation Fund for Dhusa community organization, Carry out survey, design and cost estimation of Dhusa Gravity Ropeway (Length:2500m, Elevation Diff: 813m) at Dhusa VDC-2,3,4,5,6, Dhusa, Dhading District for the transportation of Cash crops and Vegetable  etc.
  • Carry out survey, design and cost estimation of Majh Gaun Gravity Ropeway (Length: 1523, Elevation Diff: 623m) at Darechowk VDC, Chulingtar-Ruplang (Prithiwi Highway- Village), Chitwan District for the transportation of Cash crops and Vegetable etc.
  • Carryout feasibility study, fabrication and installation of Chandibhanjyang Gravity Ropeway: Technology for Access, Access for Technology” awarded by Nepal Development market palace 2008

Solar Water Pumping

  • Solar pumping water supply project  is completed in Bhujikot Tanahun, by which more than 435 persons of 67 house holds located at Bhujikot, kami gaun, Thanthok, Bhandarigaun (Dulegauda and Khairenitar VDC), supported by World Bank, under the national  competition of Nepal Development Market palace 2005, ‘Launa abata kehi garaun’.
  • Pre and Detailed feasibility study of Solar Pumping water supply project at Thaprek VDC Ward No 3,4,5,6,7,8 (Five No Projects) in Tanahun District.
  • Demand collection of Solar Pumping Water supplies Projects and other rural infrastructure development activities, as well as renewable energy sector. demanded from communities
  • Pre and detailed feasibility study of Solar Pumping Water supply Projects demanded from communities.
  • Health, sanitation, environment protection, social awareness, and renewable energy, innovation of traditional/indigenous technology, alternative/appropriate/cheaper/environment friendly technologies, user group formations, various survey regarding to these cases, in demand of communities.

Water Supply and Sanitation Programme

Support organization for 4 community water supply and sanitation scheme (Planning, development, implementation and post implementation phase) in Gulmi District for Community Based Water Supply and Sanitation Programme under Government of Nepal in assistance of Asian Development Bank. The service is provided in association of GRID Nepal Gulmi branch headed by the team by Mr. Dilly Ram Adhikari.

Awareness cum Interaction Program

  • Awareness cum interaction program on the renewable energy was conducted on May 2006 at Tanahaun District level with the support of Government of Nepal/MoEST, Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC) Lalitpur.

Local Wind Pump

  • Research work on Green Wind Pump for irrigation
  • Research work on Wind Mill for Ground water pumping (Multi Blade System)
  • Establishment of Windmill for Ground water pumping (Multi Blade System) at Biratnagar supported by Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC)
  • With the technical assistance of (ITD Nepal), a Local wind pump is developed and successfully tested on Bajrahiguthi saptari, which is very suitable for Terai region for Nepal, Where the farmers are using diesel pump for irrigating their farm. Environmental Conservation Camp Awareness (ECCA) supports for the development of second type of Local wind Pump at Siraha District.

Micro-Francis Turbine

  • Developing of Francis turbines with Induction Generator, which can be manufactured at the local level with local know-how, for micro hydro plants.

Micro-hydro power

GRID Nepal has conducted the pre feasibility survey of micro hydro power as per request from community level of 8 schemes in Gamnangtar, Ragani, Khiji Chandeshowari of Okhaldhunga District.

Solar Home System Monitoring

GRID Nepal is now monitoring the 9th round of quality assurance of Solar Home systems in the field as monitoring consultant of Alternative Energy Promotion Center/Energy Sector Assistance Programme (AEPC/ESAP). For the provision, 10 teams of field staff (Technician, field assistant and local assistant) including data operator are involved and the team is led by Solar energy Expert Dr. Dinesh Kumar Sharma in behalf of GRID Nepal.
